About the Project

The project Green Gold aims to develop an innovative and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional gold extraction methods by leveraging amino acids derived from fish waste. Through enzymatic hydrolysis, specific amino acids will be extracted and characterized to serve as eco-friendly complexing agents in gold recovery processes. The research will formulate and refine a gold extraction protocol utilizing these naturally sourced amino acids, optimizing key parameters such as pH, temperature, and concentration to ensure maximum efficiency and scalability. This method will be validated through performance testing on various ore samples, with the ultimate goal of offering a non-toxic, circular-economy solution that mitigates the harmful impacts of traditional gold mining practices involving cyanide and mercury.
